Sunflower Ceramic Table Lamp

We call this one Girasole — sunflower in Italian — and it really does bring a bit of summer into any room. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape the ceramic base by hand into a rounded vase form, then paint big, bold sunflowers all over it in yellow and brown, with green leaves and a few little red poppies tucked in between. The lower part of the body is glazed in a deep blue, and the base and top are finished with a warm yellow border decorated with traditional scrollwork.

The lamp comes with a blue fabric shade that we hand-sew ourselves. It picks up the blue from the base nicely and gives the whole piece a balanced look — cheerful without being too loud. The brass fitting between the shade and the ceramic body keeps everything secure.

People put these on bedside tables, on a console in the hallway, or on a sideboard in the living room. The ceramic base gives it good weight so it sits steady, and the shade softens the light in a way that makes a room feel warm in the evening.

Every Girasole lamp is painted freehand by our artisans, so you will see small differences from one to the next in the brushwork and colour. That is the nature of handmade ceramics from Vietri sul Mare — each piece has its own character.
