Large Ceramic Vase with Lemons

We call this shape an orcia — a traditional Italian storage jar, but this version comes without handles, giving it a cleaner, more modern silhouette. It is a big piece, about 55 cm tall, and it makes a real statement wherever you put it.

Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare throw it on the wheel and paint it entirely by hand. The design features two wide bands of yellow lemons and green leaves winding around a deep cobalt blue background, separated by a clean white band across the middle and bordered by yellow rope-pattern trim. The neck flares out gently with a blue rim, and the base picks up the same blue and yellow tones. Every lemon, every leaf, every little blue scroll in the background is painted freehand.

At this size, it works beautifully as a floor vase in an entryway, next to a fireplace, or in a large living room. Some customers use it as an umbrella stand. Others fill it with tall dried branches or just let it stand on its own as a decorative piece. The proportions are generous and the colours carry well across a room.

Made in the Piazzetta style from Vietri sul Mare. Expect small variations in the painting — each piece is unique because each one is painted by hand, one at a time.
