Lemon Breakfast Cup and Saucer

Colazione means breakfast in Italian, and this cup and saucer set is sized for exactly that — a proper morning cappuccino or a big cup of tea. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape both pieces on the wheel and paint them entirely by hand.

The cup has a white body with large yellow lemons and green leaves painted around the outside, connected by loose brown branches. The rim and handle are glazed in deep cobalt blue, which frames the lemon motif nicely. The matching saucer carries the same design — fat lemons with leaves running around the edge, bordered by that same blue rim. You can see how the brushwork on the saucer is slightly looser than on the cup, which is typical when two pieces are painted separately by hand.

The cup has a wide mouth and a gentle curve to the body, so it sits well in your palm. It is a generous size, bigger than an espresso cup but not as tall as a standard mug. Perfect for a latte or a long tea.

Every set is made in small batches. If you order more than one, expect slight variations in how the lemons are positioned or how dark the blue runs. That is the whole point of handmade work.
