Scalloped Fruit Bowl with Handles

A generous fruit bowl with a deep, wide shape and a scalloped rim that folds and ruffles outward like a flower opening. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare form this entirely by hand — you can see it in the way the wavy edge is slightly different at every point. Three small brown handles are set into the rim, giving you a good grip when you're carrying it to the table.

The inside is painted with a ring of fruit — lemons, blue grapes, peaches, and green leaves — running around the bowl between thin brown border lines. The centre has a soft teal-green circle surrounded by an ochre band, and the scalloped edge is finished with a light aqua wash. Seen from above, it has a real presence on the table. From the side, you get the full effect of those ruffled edges.

People use these for fruit, obviously, but they also work as a centrepiece for bread, as a salad bowl, or simply as decoration. The wide, shallow shape makes whatever you put inside it look generous.

Made with food-safe glazes in Vietri sul Mare. Every piece is painted freehand, so expect small differences in the brushwork from one bowl to the next.
