Summer Amphora Umbrella Stand

We call this one the anfora estate — the summer amphora. It's a large ceramic piece, about 55 cm tall, with two small stub handles on the sides and a wide flared mouth. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare build it by hand and then paint it freehand with a warm, harvest-inspired design.

The upper portion has a yellow background covered with sunflowers, open pomegranates showing their red seeds, and clusters of grapes in golden-green tones. Green leaves and delicate curling vines fill the spaces between the fruits. The painting flows down from the neck and wraps around the belly of the piece, gradually giving way to a clean white body at the bottom. The rim, handles, and base are finished in a warm ochre-brown.

Most people buy this as an umbrella stand for a front entrance or hallway — it's heavy and sturdy enough to hold several umbrellas without tipping. But it also works as a floor vase for dried branches, or simply as a decorative piece on its own. At 20 kg, it has real presence in a room.

Every detail is painted by hand, so the sunflowers and pomegranates on your piece will have small differences compared to the photograph. That's the nature of handmade work from our artisans.
