Naif Fish Table Lamp

Our pesce naif — the naive fish lamp — is one of the most playful pieces we carry. The base is a round, puffed-up fish sculpted entirely by hand in Vietri sul Mare, covered in a patchwork of geometric patterns and Mediterranean colours. Every section of the body is painted differently: blue spirals around the eye, orange and yellow triangles, red zigzags, green stripes, teal curves. The fins stick out in three dimensions — spiky on top, ruffled at the tail — and the whole thing sits on its belly like it is perfectly content.

The lamp fitting rises from the top of the fish and holds a pleated fabric shade in a soft cream-green colour with a trim along the edges. The shade is hand-sewn and matched to the ceramic base. When lit, it casts a warm, soft glow that picks up the colours below.

People put these on bedside tables, in children's rooms, on a console in the hallway — anywhere that could use some personality and some light. The fish shape makes it a conversation piece, but the shade makes it genuinely useful as a reading lamp or ambient light.

Our artisans sculpt and paint each fish individually, so the pattern of colours and shapes will vary from one lamp to another. The lampshade is also made by hand. If you see differences from the photo, that just means yours was made by a real person — which is the whole point.
