Deep Oval Platter with Lemons

In Italian we call this a sperlunga fonda — a deep, elongated oval serving platter. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape each one by hand and paint it freehand with no stencils or transfers. It's part of our Piazzetta Collection, which features the lemon motifs that have become a symbol of the Amalfi Coast.

The wide rim is painted in a deep cobalt blue with a continuous garland of lemons, branches, and green leaves wrapping all the way around. Small white scroll details are scattered across the blue background, adding a bit of movement. The centre opens into a clean oval framed by a yellow band — a nice contrast that makes the lemons and the blue really stand out.

The depth of this plate makes it more than a display piece. It holds sauce, juices, and liquids well, so it works for serving fish, roasted peppers, or a big insalata caprese. The oval shape fits nicely lengthwise on a table, and the size is generous enough for a family-style meal.

Made with food-safe enamels and fired at high temperature. Every lemon and leaf is a little different from plate to plate — that's the nature of freehand painting, and we think it's what makes each piece feel personal.
