Rectangular Ceramic Serving Plate with Fruit

A generous rectangular ceramic plate — sometimes called a sushi plate for its elongated shape, though we see it used for all kinds of food. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape each one by hand and paint the entire surface freehand, building up the design layer by layer.
The decoration covers almost the whole plate with a rich still-life of fruit: lemons, oranges, red apples, and clusters of green and yellow grapes, all connected by teal and green leaves with small curling tendrils. The background shifts from warm yellow around the edges to deep cobalt blue in the centre, giving the composition depth. The rounded corners and slightly cushioned shape make it feel less formal than a sharp-edged tray.
At 44 cm long, it's big enough for a full spread of sushi, a line of antipasti, or a selection of cheeses and cured meats. The flat surface and low profile make it easy to arrange food on. Plenty of our customers also keep it on display — propped on a shelf or laid flat on a sideboard as a decorative piece.
Glazed with food-safe enamels and kiln-fired. As with everything we sell, the hand-painting means each plate has its own character. Small differences in colour and brushwork are part of what makes these pieces individual.
