Set of Plates with Grape and Fruit Decor

We call this the uvetta pattern — named after the small grapes that grow along the coast. The set includes three sizes of plates: dinner, soup, and side. Each plate has a scalloped edge and the same hand-painted decoration: a border of lemons, grapes, and small red apples on a cobalt blue rim, with green and blue leaves winding through the composition. The centre is left white and clean.

The painting style is looser and more expressive than some of our other collections. The grapes are done in clusters of deep blue, the lemons in warm yellow, and there are touches of teal and green in the leaves. The blue border has a slightly mottled quality from the hand-sponging technique our artisans use. It gives the plates a lively, organic feel.

We designed this set for daily use. The plates are well-proportioned for Italian meals — the dinner plate is generous enough for a main course, the soup plate has good depth for pasta or broth, and the side plate works for salad, bread, or dessert. The glazes are food-safe.

Every plate is shaped and painted by hand in Vietri sul Mare. Because the fruit and leaves are painted freehand, you'll see natural variations from plate to plate. That's the character of handmade ceramics from this part of Italy.
