Ceramic Pocket Tray with Fruit Decor

In Italian we call it svuotatasche — a pocket emptier. It's a small tray you keep by the door or on a nightstand for keys, coins, rings, whatever empties out of your pockets at the end of the day. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape each one by hand, and the curved sides give it a boat-like silhouette that keeps everything contained.

The version shown here has a deep navy blue centre with a yellow border, all painted freehand with a garland of Southern Italian fruits — lemons, grapes, apples, and peaches with green leaves. The handles on each side are glazed in cobalt blue and have a twisted, organic shape. Green vine details trail along the yellow rim.

It's a practical piece that also happens to look good sitting on a table or shelf. Some customers buy one for the entryway and end up coming back for a second to use as a small serving dish for olives or nuts. The glaze is food-safe, so either use works perfectly.

Each tray is painted freehand by our artisans, which means no two are identical. Small differences in the colour intensity or the position of the fruit — that's just the nature of handmade work from Vietri sul Mare.
