Fruit Ceramic Planter

In Italian we call it a cachepot — a decorative pot you slip a plant into. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape this one on the wheel and paint the entire fruit design freehand before firing. The result is a solid, glossy ceramic planter that works indoors or outdoors.

The body is covered in a dense arrangement of hand-painted fruit against a deep cobalt blue background: fat yellow lemons with green leaves, bunches of blue grapes, red apples, halved pomegranates showing their seeds, and sliced oranges. There is a lot going on, and it is all painted with confident, detailed brushwork. The rim has a yellow band with a scrolling vine border, and the base is finished with matching yellow stripes. The overall effect is rich and full — this is not a minimalist piece.

At 20 cm, it is a good size for a small herb plant, a flowering pot, or even just sitting empty on a table as a decorative bowl. It is also available in 30 cm and 35 cm if you need something larger — just send us a request.

Each cachepot is painted by hand, so no two will have the fruit arranged in exactly the same way. The ceramic is sturdy and the glaze protects well against moisture.
