Baroque Fruit Bowl with Three Handles
A 30 cm ruffled fruit bowl with three handles, painted freehand in blue with golden scrolls, grapes, and pomegranates.
We named this one Giulia. It is a large fruit bowl — about 30 cm across — with three handles and a scalloped, ruffled edge that gives it real presence on a table. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape it entirely by hand, so the wavy rim is never perfectly symmetrical. That is part of what makes it look alive.
The inside is painted on a deep blue background with sweeping golden scrolls, bunches of pink grapes, red pomegranates, green leaves, and a few lemons scattered in. The three handles are glazed in a warm yellow that stands out against the blue. All of it is done freehand — you can see the brushstrokes up close, and the white curlicue details over the blue give it a lot of depth.
Most people use it as a centrepiece, filled with fruit or just sitting empty on a dining table or sideboard. It is big enough to hold a good amount of oranges or lemons, and sturdy enough for everyday use. The three handles make it easy to carry from the kitchen to the table.
