Handpainted Oil Cruet with Lemons

An oliera — the Italian word for oil cruet — shaped on the wheel in Vietri sul Mare. It has a full, rounded body that tapers to a narrow neck, a small curved handle in warm terracotta orange, and it comes with a stainless steel pourer that gives you a clean, controlled drizzle.

The decoration features plump yellow lemons with green leaves painted freehand on a deep teal-green background. You can see the brushstrokes clearly, the way the green washes overlap and the leaf veins are drawn in quick, confident lines. No two are painted the same way because our artisans work entirely without stencils or transfers.

We designed the shape to be practical for daily use at the table — olive oil on salads, bruschetta, grilled vegetables. The ceramic keeps oil cooler than glass and blocks light, which helps keep the oil fresh longer. But plenty of customers tell us they use it as a small decorative piece too, which we completely understand.

Glazed with food-safe enamels and kiln-fired in the traditional way. Slight differences in the colour intensity or brushwork between pieces are natural and expected — that is the mark of something made by a real person's hands.
