Oval Serving Plate

In Italian we call it sperlunga — a long oval serving plate that has been part of the Amalfi Coast table for as long as anyone can remember. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape each one by hand and paint the decoration freehand, so no two plates come out exactly the same.

We carry this sperlunga in two colour versions. The light one has a pale blue background with small yellow donkeys (a classic Vietri motif) painted around the rim, red dots along the scalloped edge, and a green-teal border circling the white centre. The dark version has a deep cobalt blue background with yellow fish swimming around the rim, red-brown fins, and green dots scattered between them — same red dot border, same scalloped edge, same white centre. Both have that slightly wavy, hand-shaped rim that tells you right away this was not made by a machine.

These plates are food-safe and meant for real use. They are perfect for serving fish, antipasti, sliced meats, or roasted vegetables. The oval shape gives you more room than a round plate, and the gentle curve of the rim keeps things from sliding off. Available in four sizes.

Part of our Vietri Collection. All glazes are food-safe, and the plates are kiln-fired at high temperature for durability. Hand wash recommended to keep the colours looking fresh for years.
