Handpainted Ceramic Soup Bowl

We call these ciotole — deep ceramic bowls made for soup, pasta, or anything you want to eat with a spoon. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape each one on the wheel and paint every detail freehand, so you'll notice small differences from bowl to bowl. That's the whole point of handmade work.

The orange version has a warm, sun-coloured band around the inside with blue and yellow spiral scrolls, small green leaves, and a ring of burgundy dots just below the green rim. Flip it over and you'll see orange and green stripes running around the white exterior. The blue version takes a different approach — a deep cobalt band decorated with little fish in yellow and white, green dots, and red leaf shapes, with the same burgundy dot border and green rim. The outside carries blue and green stripes on white.

These bowls have a good depth to them, wide enough for a generous portion of minestrone or pasta e fagioli. The glaze is food-safe, so they're meant to be used every day, not just admired. That said, a pair of these stacked on an open shelf looks pretty great too.
