Baroque Ceramic Serving Tray

Our vassoio barocco is a rectangular ceramic tray with ornate scalloped edges and two decorative handles in golden ochre. It measures roughly 45 cm by 25 cm — a good size for bringing things to the table. Every piece is shaped and painted by hand in Vietri sul Mare.

The border is painted with clusters of blue grapes, lemons, pomegranates, and green leaves on a white ground, framed by a teal-coloured rim. The centre is left mostly open — white with a thin golden border — so whatever you place on it has a clean backdrop. The contrast between the busy fruit border and the simple middle is what gives this design its character.

It works well for serving appetisers, bread, or cheese, and the handles make it easy to pass around. Off the table, it looks great on a console or sideboard. Some customers use it as a catch-all for keys and mail by the front door.

Our artisans paint each grape, each lemon, each leaf by hand without any stencils. You'll notice small differences between trays — a slightly rounder lemon here, a darker grape there. That's what handmade means, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
