Large Ruffled Fruit Bowl with Handles

A big, generous fruit bowl — the kind that sits in the middle of the table and stays there. Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare shape it by hand, forming the deep, ruffled walls and pinching out those wide, wavy folds that give it its character. Three ochre-coloured handles are set into the rim, making it easy to carry even when it's full.

The outside is glazed in a rich, sponged teal green. The inside is where the painting really comes alive: a wreath of lemons, grapes, peaches, red apples, and green leaves circles the bowl, connected by soft blue scrollwork. The fruit is painted boldly, with confident brushstrokes — lemons that really look like lemons, grapes you could almost pick. The centre at the bottom is left white.

It's a substantial piece, both in size and weight. People use it for fruit, bread, or as a centrepiece. Some fill it with seasonal decorations. The depth and spread of the bowl mean it holds quite a lot without looking crowded.

Made entirely by hand in Vietri sul Mare with food-safe glazes. Each bowl is an individual piece — the fruit arrangement, the folds of the rim, even the exact green of the glaze will vary from one to the next.
