Sunflowers and Poppies Wall Plate

Girasoli e papaveri — sunflowers and poppies. Two flowers you see everywhere along the Amalfi Coast in summer, and two that our artisans in Vietri sul Mare love to paint. Each plate is shaped, glazed and painted entirely by hand, with no two coming out exactly the same.

The design fills the surface with bold sunflowers in yellow and brown, red poppies, clusters of purple grapes and split pomegranates, all set against a background that shifts from deep blue at the top to warm yellow at the bottom. The outer rim has a scrolling leaf border in golden tones that ties everything together. There's a lot happening on this plate, and it rewards a close look — you'll notice little details each time.

At 30 cm across, it's a good size for a wall display. Hang it in a kitchen, a hallway, or anywhere you want a bit of colour. It also looks well propped up on a shelf or plate stand.

Because our artisans paint freehand, you'll find small differences in the brushwork from one plate to the next. We consider that part of the charm. Our shop in Praiano has carried pieces like this since Don Mario opened the doors in 1960.
