Wall Plate with Lemons on Blue

We call it a piatto murale — a ceramic plate made to hang on the wall. The Alba design is one of our most recognisable: a deep cobalt blue background completely covered with yellow lemons on twisting green branches. Around the rim there's a golden-ochre border with a repeating scallop pattern that frames the whole composition.

Our artisans in Vietri sul Mare paint every lemon, every leaf, and every curling vine by hand. You can count more than a dozen lemons scattered across the surface, each one slightly different in shape and shade. Small white spiral details fill the spaces between the branches, giving the blue background some movement. The plate is about 30 cm in diameter — a good size for a wall piece.

Lemons are the symbol of the Amalfi Coast, and this plate is probably the most direct expression of that. It looks right at home in a kitchen, a dining room, or even a hallway. Some customers buy several to create a wall arrangement, mixing different patterns from our collection.

Because every detail is painted freehand, each plate is slightly unique. The position of the lemons, the curve of the vines, the depth of the blue — these all vary a little from piece to piece. That's the nature of handmade work from Vietri.
